![]() This morning we had a little visitor, unexpected and unannounced. I heard a tapping and flapping sound so I came into the living room to see what all the racket was about. I saw a Black Phoebe flitting around, bumping into the window. She calmed down long enough for me to snap a picture though. Frankie was all ready to pounce, so I put the camera down and quickly grabbed Frankie. The little bird flew straight into the front door. It somehow landed on the wooden muntin, gripping for dear life. Then, just as I was moving closer to open the door, it swiftly flew in the other direction, right through the open French back doors. This is the second bird we've had fly inside. The first one was in the guesthouse a few months ago. I guess the chances are much greater when you leave your doors wide open. Makes sense to me!

Hi there - have been meaning to send a quick note to tell you how much I'm enjoying your blog and how excited I am to learn that you are working on a book that captures your experiences in CR. Way to go!! Don't forget to reach out to John, who worked here (his wife, Sonia Day wrote a book a few years back, about their experiences moving to a farm...she may have some great tips on publishers etc). My bookclub will be waiting for your book :)

Hello Miriam!! How lovely to get your note! You won't believe this, but I had a dream about you last night... you were tending sheep hahahaha! The weather is one thing we are NOT missing in the least. We love our weather and temperature here, without question! Thank you for all your support! It's nice to know I have a ready-made audience :) The tamales are traditionally wrapped in banana leaves. Once they are cooked, you unwrap them, put them on a plate (or still in the banana leaves) and dig in. We tend to add hot sauce because we find it a bit bland, but it's to each their own.
