Still no internet.
After putting money in the bank, we went to see about getting internet. We asked around and were pointed to a kiosk across the street where they sell phones, electronic gadgets like computerized cigarettes next to doughnuts, chips and coke. And, I'm not sure, I think they also sell cars in the back parking lot. It never would have occurred to us to stop there for a internet data card. No one spoke English, but a young teenager who was working there came out of the kiosk and told us to follow him. We did. He lead us down the street and up some stairs to an internet cafe. This is where we met Milagro. A beautiful Tica who didn't speak a word of English and spoke Spanish incredibly fast. I had a really hard time communicating with her so she went to one of the computers and we spoke through Google translation. Unfortunately, Google translation only gets half of it right... but the other half was the bit we needed most. Between that, a lot of sign language and my meagre Spanish skills, we managed. She then told us to follow her to the ICE office (pronounced 'ee-say') which is the national phone and internet company where we need to get a chip for the data card. We went in and she spoke to the clerk. They said if we have 3 bars on our phone, we should be able to receive internet on the data card. Yay! She told us to come back with our computers and she would check to make sure our phone chip would work. We told her we would return tomorrow.
