It feels like Sunday today... and yesterday felt like Saturday. Since the fundraiser Fun Day, I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. And to top it all off, I went to bed early last night as I was suffering from a stinging sunburn on my back and a bad headache, which knocked me off my feet. I used to suffer from migraines on a pretty regular basis back in Canada, but since being here, I've been incredibly lucky. I've never felt better actually, but I guess I'm not immune to some health hiccups now and then. I slept well and woke up headache-free. I thought I might be catching a cold, but after being up for an hour, I felt fine. Just one of those things, I guess. It happens.
Kevin worked on making a new gate for the opening of the aqueduct system. The wooden board that he's been using since last September is very heavy, especially when it gets wet. It's a challenge for him to move it up and over the concrete wall, so there's pretty much no hope of me lifting it, if I ever need to. Kevin is devising a lighter, easier gate, so that in a pinch, I will be able to help Kevin, if he ever needs me to. I spent the morning making guacamole and apple crumble. Then I cleaned the house before our friends, Cindy and Larry, came for a visit. They took the bus from Santa María, where they live, to Copey and they walked from Copey to our place. Quite the hike. They arrived shortly after 12:30 pm and spent the entire afternoon with us. We shared some guacamole and wine, then coffee and apple crumble. We chatted about all kinds of different things. Then we walked them around the property showing them all the updates since the last time they were here a few months ago. Kevin showed them where we're thinking of building a log cabin. Larry is an architect so he has a wealth of information to share with us, which is great. They told us about a website they'd like to build and we were able to help them out with some ideas. We seem to have a mutually beneficial arrangement. At 5:45 pm, I drove them back to Santa María. It was a really lovely day.
