A visit to Isabel and Urs' home

We got up early as usual, did our morning chores and by 8:40 am we were out the door and driving over to Isabel and Urs' place. We found it easily enough. Once we closed the gate behind us, we followed the very long driveway up a steep mountain. Three dogs greeted us as we got out of the SUV — Isabel and Urs were following close behind. We said our hellos and were immediately invited to take a tour of the property, all uphill! They own over 100 acres of land with cows, bulls and horses. I won't lie, I felt out of breath. The air is thinner up there and I felt the difference in my lungs. We then made our way back (my favourite part because it's always so much easier to go down), and went in for a glass of iced tea. After a nice long chat, we had a delicious quiche with salad. Urs made the pastry portion and Isabel prepared the eggs, ham and cheese filling. Then they placed it in a wood stove to cook for half an hour. Urs makes bread as well and bakes it in this wood stove. Wood stoves are such an imperfect science, but if he can succeed at making bread, then I'm encouraged to continue with my idea of baking bread in our outside wood oven. I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and give it a try. Isabel is a seasoned gardener and after lunch, she showed me her green house where she starts her seedlings. She also shared some of her compost and seeds with me today. I was thrilled. So, besides trying my hand at baking bread, I'm also going to start my own compost and my own little garden. All organic. All good.

Dave and Krista are a couple from the Pacific Northwest that led overwhelmingly busy lives.
As her son Hayden was graduating high school, and daughter Korynn wrapping up college, they realized it was time to slow down. Life was going far too fast . They wanted to take the time to enjoy stress free living with their eight year old son Quinn.
Having visited Hush Valley Lodge as guests in January of 2016, they decided this would be the exact change they needed.
In the pursuit of happiness, they partnered with Jo, Peter, Molly, Gary and Dan to make this dream a reality, and are currently the stewards of the magic that is Hush Valley Lodge.
