Today, we decided to ride the ATV into San Marcos. We normally take the SUV ... always, actually.
We had gone to the Caja to pick up our paperwork and pay the monthly fee. Then we went to the clinic to pick up our health card. While we were meeting with the man in charge, he told us we were missing one receipt so he couldn't process the paperwork. He gave us a list of what we needed and told us to come back. We went back this morning. We decided to leave right after breakfast while we were certain the sun would be out. I love riding on the back of the ATV. It changes my perspective: I was noticing new things along the way. The air was a bit cool, but Kevin and I were prepared and dressed warmly. Travelling by ATV is also faster. It can move quicker on the dirt roads ... and parking is easy, too. You can park an ATV pretty much anywhere. By the time we got to San Marcos, it was hot. We sat in the clinic for over an hour before it was our turn. We handed over all the required paperwork: passport, Caja receipt, proof that we paid for our cedulas (card that shows we are temporary or permanent residents ... similar to a Green Card in the U.S.) and the letter stating we have an appointment in January to sign for the cedulas. Everything was in order and the man in charge handed us our health card right away. Good job done. We ran a few more errands then headed home. By 11 am the clouds were getting thicker and darker. We didn't want to get caught in the rain. Just a few minutes after we got home, it started to rain. Good timing. Kevin and I enjoyed taking the ATV so much, we've decided we'll take it out more often.
