I made some bread yesterday and it was good enough to eat. It was a little heavy for my liking so I'll have to try to figure out how to lighten it up a bit. Having said that, we've been given two homemade loaves of bread in the last week and they were both quite dense and heavy, so I'm not sure if the altitude is responsible for that. I haven't tried making bread in the outdoor wood oven since my last attempt, so yesterday's bread was baked in the toaster oven. I'm happy to report there were no explosions. The bread was a nice complement to our penne with tomato and meat sauce. And for lunch today, we toasted the bread and had a tomato and cheese melt (except in the middle of preparing it, we had a power shortage, so there was no 'melt' involved in the making of our sandwiches).
