Isabel just called on behalf of the volunteer coordinator at the Copey Learning Center. The English teacher volunteer is leaving in a month and the coordinator was inquiring whether I might be willing to take her place. This volunteer teaches grades 1 to 6 and also adults from what I understand. The parents want their children to learn English and the community has a great deal of respect for teachers, which is nice. It will allow me to meet more people in the larger area of Copey (maybe I'll meet that lady who called the police on me... I'm not bitter). I've never considered myself a teacher, and I have no idea if I'll be any good at it, but I'm certainly willing to give it my best shot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained as they say. Isabel will set up a meeting with the coordinator this Sunday and we'll go from there.
