Meeting the new volunteers

Yesterday was an exhausting day. I came home so drained that I simply didn't have the energy to write. I drove down to the Copey Learning Center to meet with the three new volunteers (Emmy, Niamh -pronounced Neev, and Brian) for 9 am. Seidy's niece, Gloria, was there, too. The purpose of the meeting was to answer any questions or concerns the volunteers may have at this point. That lasted until noon and then it was decided that I would drive us all down to Santa Maria for a tour of the small town. We thought it would be a good idea to show them the bus stops, the bank, the place where they can get a phone and phone card, the several supermarkets, etc. We stopped to have lunch at a new place I'd never seen before, tucked away on a quiet street.... well, more quiet than the main street, if that's possible. The food was very good and it was a great find. It was 3:15 pm when I remembered I had to teach at 6 pm so I felt the need to get back. We all piled back into the SUV and I drove everyone to the center. I quickly came home, changed, went over my preparation for class. Kevin, who had been at Tony's (the mushroom farmer) came home not too long after me. I started dinner in the slow cooker and headed off to class and picked up Nacho, Paola and Adriana on the way as I always do.

The class was really great. I had given everyone a homework assignment. They had to research a place they'd like to visit and give a presentation on it. They all did a great job and people were so interested in all the different places people were talking about. Seidy and Brian stopped by to have a listen and said they really enjoyed it, too.

After class, I didn't linger, I dropped everyone off and Kevin and I had dinner as soon as I got home. I could barely keep my eyes open. I was completely exhausted. I went to bed early.

Dave and Krista are a couple from the Pacific Northwest that led overwhelmingly busy lives.
As her son Hayden was graduating high school, and daughter Korynn wrapping up college, they realized it was time to slow down. Life was going far too fast . They wanted to take the time to enjoy stress free living with their eight year old son Quinn.
Having visited Hush Valley Lodge as guests in January of 2016, they decided this would be the exact change they needed.
In the pursuit of happiness, they partnered with Jo, Peter, Molly, Gary and Dan to make this dream a reality, and are currently the stewards of the magic that is Hush Valley Lodge.
