Finally some Internet ... and back to the Caja office

Yesterday, we spent all morning watching the ICE technicians replace the 800-foot phone cable, eagerly anticipating phone and Internet connection. So now we have a brand new phone line and there's no more scratchiness on the line and the Internet is back on! No more data card. The data card was great as a last resort, but the last two days, we we're getting good enough Wi-Fi signal to get connected, so we were without land-line phone or cell phone. We were feeling a bit cut-off. But all is well in our communication world now. It's very good to be back on high-speed Internet again. A lesson in not taking things for granted. There's always a lesson.

After the ICE guys left, we picked up our friend, Catalina, and drove to San Marcos to hand in our signed Caja form (for health card). There was a long lineup this time so we had to wait patiently. It was hot and muggy with those funny blue fluorescent lights that I hate so much. But it is what it is. We didn't have the same woman who served us last week, which we were kind of hoping we would just so we wouldn't have to explain our situation from scratch (well, Catalina wouldn't have to explain). The man behind the desk was nice and very helpful (we found out he's one of our neighbour's cousin). He did some calculations and saved us $8 a month. Instead of $60/month we now only have to pay $52/month. We like that!

So, as a recap ... ARCR was going to charge us $452/month which even I (math hater that I am) can figure out that we're saving $400 PER MONTH just by doing the legwork ourselves. If pays to have friends who will help, too. Thank you, Catalina!! If you're looking to relocate here (or anywhere I imagine), a little homework can save you a lot of money.

Dave and Krista are a couple from the Pacific Northwest that led overwhelmingly busy lives.
As her son Hayden was graduating high school, and daughter Korynn wrapping up college, they realized it was time to slow down. Life was going far too fast . They wanted to take the time to enjoy stress free living with their eight year old son Quinn.
Having visited Hush Valley Lodge as guests in January of 2016, they decided this would be the exact change they needed.
In the pursuit of happiness, they partnered with Jo, Peter, Molly, Gary and Dan to make this dream a reality, and are currently the stewards of the magic that is Hush Valley Lodge.
