The one-room school that I attend has been under going renovations for the past 3 years. The people of our small community save money then buy some materials and build until they run out. Then they save some more and buy more materials and build, and so on (they work so hard and sure know how to stretch a buck). They are adding a kitchen and are so close to being done, but they've run out of money again. They may not be able to finish for another year, at this rate. The kids have nowhere to eat and the cook (Clara cooks for the kids everyday after she works in our garden) has to prepare hot meals in what we would consider a closet. She does the best she can with what there is. Once the kitchen is done, then they can make more room at the back of the class for two computer stations. I really want to help in any way I can, so in November while I'm back in Canada for two weeks, I've decided to try and do some fundraising. Nothing would warm my heart more than to be able to present these kids, the teacher and the parents of this community a gift that would pay to finish this project.
