![]() The phone rang at 2:30 pm a it was Joy. We don't know Joy, but we're bound by family ties. She is my sister's husband's brother's daughter. We were pleasantly surprised to get a message from her a few weeks ago. She left Victoria, B.C. last October and has been travelling Central America since then. When she heard that she had 'family' in Costa Rica, she decided to check in with us. She's on her last leg of her extended trip and she's now getting ready to get back home to Canada so we're happy she is able to spend a couple of days with us. Joy took the bus from San Jose and I picked her up in Santa Maria where she was waiting for me across the church. We introduced ourselves and exchanged our stories on the way back to Rio Blanco. Once we got home, I gave Joy the tour of the guesthouse. She decided that she'd like to catch her dinner, so I suggested she do that first and then while I'm preparing the food, Kevin could take her around the property. Joy got the hang of fishing with our makeshift fishing rods very quickly and caught her dinner within a few minutes. After the walkabout with Kevin, she joined me in the kitchen and we got to know each other a little more. Then, when her dinner was ready, I carried the tray of food to the guesthouse so she could unwind and settle in for the evening. Tomorrow, we'll show her our trails.
