So it's been a week since Martin cut the hallow 'bee' tree down. After burning and smoking them out, he was finally able to chop it into more manageable pieces. Here are two big pieces we'd like to keep. We're not sure what we'll do with them yet, but I'm sure we'll think of something.

Picture
I've been wanting to take a picture of the inside of this hallow tree for a week now, but too many bees still stubbornly keeping vigil was preventing me from getting too close until today.

Picture
Kevin is shows off his brawn. This guy has been working like an ox, as has Martin, for days now. I can't believe the size of some of these tree limbs. They've been lugging them across the river and placing them in a big pile, ready to burn. It simply would be too difficult and heavy to lug them up the hill on our side of the property.

Picture
But on our side of the river, the men piled all the branches with the leaves.

Picture
They'll burn those as well. It will burn for days, I'm sure. Look at the size of it! It will be nice once is all nice and clean. It's looking pretty messy at the moment.

Love love love reading your blog and wish I could be there relaxing, reading, painting, and enjoying nature. Beautiful. (We're in the middle of a snowstorm here in Indiana this week before Easter!)
I wanted to tell you something I saw that was really pretty that you COULD do with your hollow bee/wasp logs. Use them like flower pots--fill with dirt and plant your flowers. Use singly or make a row of the--edge a walk or building. It really was neat. Wish I could find the picture to show you. Also, we took 2chinks of a beech tree that a friend had cut and was taking to the dump and we're just using them as a place to sit for a few minutes if we,re tired. It's pretty wood and it looks like "nature." Of course your pieces have holes in them!
Look forward to all your new posts. To poor to visit but I will continue to dream.

Note to self: proof read before hitting "submit!" Sorry about above spelling errors. And I meant "chunks" of beech tree, not chinks! And "too" poor not "to" poor. Our daughter lives in Seattle and we save to go there, which eliminates visiting other places on our retirement income.

Hello Judy, thanks for your kind feedback. So nice to know someone is on the other end enjoying our adventure. Thank you for the suggestion for the hallow tree stumps. Great idea!! I don't miss the long winters... a little cold and snow are okay, but all the way into late March is just too much... for me anyway! Stay warm, spring will soon be around your corner. Cheers! - Anne

Haha... my turn to apologize for the typo.. I meant 'hollow' not 'hallow'... I must have had Easter on the brain :)

Dave and Krista are a couple from the Pacific Northwest that led overwhelmingly busy lives.
As her son Hayden was graduating high school, and daughter Korynn wrapping up college, they realized it was time to slow down. Life was going far too fast . They wanted to take the time to enjoy stress free living with their eight year old son Quinn.
Having visited Hush Valley Lodge as guests in January of 2016, they decided this would be the exact change they needed.
In the pursuit of happiness, they partnered with Jo, Peter, Molly, Gary and Dan to make this dream a reality, and are currently the stewards of the magic that is Hush Valley Lodge.
