Kevin and I left the house at 9 am this morning and made our way to San Jose where we stopped at EPA and Price Smart to pick up a few things before heading to the airport. We were in and out in record time, I was so proud of Kevin. Then once our shopping was done, we drove to the airport and waited for Kevin's mum, Mary, and his sister, Karen, to walk through the exit doors. The airport has been renovated since we were last there and it's looking clean and modern. It's all new, even since we picked up my mother a little over a month ago.
It was truly lovely to see them both walk out... there's such a feeling of anticipation when you're waiting for family to arrive. It's actually a bit strange to have taxi drivers come up to us asking if we need a cab and we waved them off confidently, as thought we know exactly what we're doing and where we're going. This is old hat for us, now. We were watching all the people huddling around, some in groups, others meandering aimlessly, not really knowing what they needed to do next. Some looked overwhelmed, others taking it all in stride, but all looked like tourists. We are no longer tourists. We live here.... in Costa Rica. Once we got back home, Kevin gave the usual tour before it got dark and I put the groceries away and made some pizza. We had a nice chat, catching up on this and that. And now, at 9:40 pm, we're all ready for bed. It's been a tiring day.
