![]() Catalina, the English teacher, and her husband Gogui invited us to go whale watching... or whale seeking, anyway. We drove down to the Pacific coast to Uvita beach. That's where the Humpback whales from Canada migrate to with their young during the wintertime and where they migrate from South America from August to November. We were not fortunate enough to see any whales today, but we had a lovely time lounging under palm trees and walking on the beautiful, sandy beach. The water was extremely warm... I'd say about 80°F, at least. Kevin and I agree that Uvita is much nicer than Jaco and Quepos. But man, was it ever hot and humid. I don't know how anyone gets any work done in such heat... Kevin and I felt so lethargic. We always look forward to arriving back home to our perfect climate. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() We met up with a 4-week old Pitbull. The cutest little thing. ![]() Look at that face. Her name was Eva. ![]() We brought picnic and Catalina made burritos. ![]() ![]() As they say, here, in Costa Rica... PURA VIDA!

Is Uvita beach as nice as Puerto Viejo?

The beach itself has nice sand like Puerto Viejo and it goes on for miles so you can go for a really nice walk. The water is shallow for a long time and very warm. I thought it was nice and clean, but what I like about Puerto Viejo especially is the village atmosphere so close to the beach.
