![]() Larry and Kevin having a chat in the dining room with the doors wide open. Our friends, Cindy and Larry, who are expats from Arizona and now live in Santa Maria, introduced us to other expats from Washington State, who live in San Marcos. Annika and Roger invited the four of us for lunch, which started with Tequila and a delicious concoction called Sangrita (tomato juice, orange juice, hot chile and lime) to chase the Tequila down with. YUM! These people know how to entertain! While we were still sober, Annika gave us a tour of their two-acre property. When they first bought twenty years ago, it was just pasture land. Now it's a little oasis of different outside rooms, nooks and crannies, with charm and tranquility and full of great ideas! Their house design integrates inside/outside living space, which has a lovely feel and so very Costa Rican. The conversation was lively with all kinds of opinions and perspectives shared. Nice people... we're grateful to see our network of friends expand. ![]() Cindy and Annika enjoying their own chat as they get some of the food ready. ![]() Roger, our chef, at the bar-b-que grilling the most delicious chicken and vegetables. One of the tastiest meals we've had. Roger put on a tie and gave one each to Larry and Kevin to wear at the dinner table. Roger said it was to remind them why they live in Costa Rica and why they don't ever wear ties... it made for an interesting (and colourful) fashion statement.
