After working all morning on the skylight, we had a break and ate some lunch. It was beautiful outside so we decided to eat on the edge of the pond and soak up some sun. While we were sitting there, Frankie wanted to come up on the ledge, too, so up she came. As we ate, Frankie's bum was hanging over the edge and I was worried she would fall into the pond, so I moved her over. This little manoeuvre of mine had my fork fly off my plate and into the pond. I saved Frankie, but lost my fork. Damn! So, Kevin always being up for a challenge, decided he would try and retrieve it. He used all kinds of different farming tools like a hoe, a rake, another type of rake, etc. to no avail. Not one to feel defeated, he was resolute and decided to go in after it!! There's a reason we don't go swimming in our ponds, by the way... the water is a chilly 14°C/57°F!!

Kevin - putting on his shoes, which he soon took off once he was in the pond. He realized using his toes to feel for the fork might be more useful.... it wasn't.

Kevin - trying to see something, anything at the bottom of the pond... he didn't.

Just how cold is the water, Kevin?

IT'S (BLEEPING) FREEZING!

Don't be fooled, the white chest has nothing to do with hypothermia, but rather has everything to do with this farmer's tan :)

If looks could kill! After several minutes in the water, and the silt being stirred up making it impossible to see anything... and Kevin's toes too numb to feel anything either, he was less than amused. I think the fact that the fork beat him hurt his pride more than the cold water hurt his circulation.

Later, once everything settled, he was able to see the glistening fork, but the sun was starting to set so the hunt will continue tomorrow.

TO BE CONTINUED....

Dave and Krista are a couple from the Pacific Northwest that led overwhelmingly busy lives.
As her son Hayden was graduating high school, and daughter Korynn wrapping up college, they realized it was time to slow down. Life was going far too fast . They wanted to take the time to enjoy stress free living with their eight year old son Quinn.
Having visited Hush Valley Lodge as guests in January of 2016, they decided this would be the exact change they needed.
In the pursuit of happiness, they partnered with Jo, Peter, Molly, Gary and Dan to make this dream a reality, and are currently the stewards of the magic that is Hush Valley Lodge.
