Our Bettys gave us eight eggs today... I guess they were impressed enough with their nice, clean digs that they thought to repay me somehow. It's not ten... but eight is pretty good. At least they're trying.
Kevin spent the morning up in the pasture with Martin and Roger, cutting down Alders. We have quite a few of them, but they're not good for blackberries and since Roger is be taking care of a large area and picking blackberries, the trees needed to come down. Martin had called some friends to do it, but they only showed up one day a few weeks ago and never returned (this is not uncommon in Costa Rica... it can be rather frustrating). So, we got tired of waiting around for them. We decided it would be best if Kevin and Martin simply handled it. They felled seven trees with Kevin's chainsaw. Then they'll cut them into smaller pieces for some other purpose. For what exactly, we're not sure yet... maybe firewood... maybe building material. We'll have to wait and see. Kevin wished we had a honking big chipper. If we had a chipper we could make chips and use them on the trails and paths, and in the chicken coop... oh, so many possibilities. I wrote today. And while I was writing, I received an email in my inbox. It was an Airbnb reservation for April. We're hoping it's a sign of more to come.
