Kevin and I have decided today was probably the nicest, most perfect day, weather wise, since we've been here... well, certainly considering it's the rainy season. We've had hundreds of gorgeous days, but today, I don't know... it just felt special somehow: blue skies, nice and hot, but not too hot... not humid with a nice gentle breeze. I watched a grasshopper in the tall grass, which I have to say was a regular occurrence when I was a kid, but I can't say I've noticed the little critters in the last few decades. So seeing that grasshopper brought me back, nostalgically, to my childhood. It brought me back to a time when summer days were carefree and where I lived in a world of make-believe, imagining great adventures (apparently planting seeds for the future).
Of course, this type of weather is highly unusual this time of year and it's the main topic of conversation wherever we go. Rain is needed... for the farmers... for the livestock... heck, for everyday living. Climate change is being felt in many parts of the world and Costa Rica is no exception. Ontario, Canada has been experiencing really strange weather patterns, too. Change doesn't mean the end... it just means we all have to find creative solutions and adapt. We're really lucky, we have a river and our natural springs are flowing nicely. So far, there's no need for concern. And, we're ready to build a bio-sand filter if the need ever arises... but I doubt it will come to that. It's good to have options though.
