![]() The old hatchery is starting to look like a winter greenhouse. After Kevin filled the bottom of the concrete tanks with logs and rocks, he and I shovelled bucketfuls of sand to fill them up half way. We poured water on top to help it settle. ![]() Then Kevin lugged several heavy bags of compost, which we bought from a farmer in Copey. Kevin put some in every tank. ![]() Our own compost heap is cooking well so I dug into it and added some of that rich, nutritious soil for an extra boost. I love the fact that we have our own organic compost... soon we won't have to buy someone else's mixture. Our compost has no stones, either, which is a big bonus in my book. ![]() Then I planted my seedlings: tomatoes, lettuce, red peppers and squash. And now, we water, wait, and wish for the best. It's very exciting... I sure hope it works out.
