![]() We have a long list of of things that need to be done everyday, but the great thing is that we can choose which chores we feel like doing on any given day... except for the obvious fish and hen duties, of course. Today, Kevin decided to clean our skylight, which has been at the top of the list since we got here. ![]() Our skylight is 'double glazed'. When I say 'double glazed', I mean there is a clear plastic corrugated piece on the roof side with a 3 or 4 inch gap, then a different type of sheet of plastic on the ceiling side. And in between, there was an accumulation of bat droppings and dead spiders, dust and so on. In the early days... it rained a lot and we had other more pressing things to attend to, but today was the day. ![]() The day started out overcast, which made it a perfect day to do this job, but this is Costa Rica afterall, so it didn't take long for the sun to come out. It was so sunny, not only was it hard for Kevin to see what he was doing, but it was very hot up there on the scaffolding. ![]() The roof slopes considerable, so the bottom portion was easy to reach; however, as Kevin worked upwards, the scaffolding wasn't quite high enough so Kevin had to stand on a short step ladder and then a 6' ladder. I was in the loft holding onto the ladder and the plastic sheet to make sure it didn't fall on his head. Kids, do not try this at home! ![]() Let there be light! Well done, Kev!
