As we drove off, leaving the dogs behind, we turned left at the T junction as we entered Copey. It's the same road where you can find the El Toucanet Cabins, written about in the Lonely Planet guide book. We had gone up a few days ago to meet the owners, but there was a sign on the gate saying they are closed for the month of September. We'll go back in a few week. This winding road is magical with the white river and mossy green rocks with big, old trees. The way the light shines through adds to its enchantment. We drove up and up on a rocky, dirt road, perfect for the ATV. The views were spectacular, yet again, so breathtaking. Forests dotted with green pastures. Postcard perfect. Phoenix would have a field day here with her camera. We rode about 18 kms and think we found the adventure park, although, the gate was closed. Perhaps they close during the wet season. The road started to go down into a valley and we reached a little village of Providencia and bought some water at a little store. We walked in and no one was there. We said 'hola' out loud a few times, then a man came through the front door and told us he was just up at the cabin. He left his store wide open, unattended. Not something one would find a store owner doing in Burlington. We asked for directions to make sure we were going the right way. Providencia was sunny and hot, maybe 27°C.
