![]() Today, we were invited to meet a couple who live in the Yukon for six months and live in Providencia (50 minutes from where we live) the other six months. Their names are Ying, Eric and their 21-year-old daughter, Sierra. We left after lunch on the ATV and rode up towards the clouds. As we climbed the mountain, the air got cooler. By the time we reached the top, we were at 10,000 ft in elevation... we drove through the clouds... and then above them. We did this same trip way back in September in hopes of meeting Ying and Eric, not realizing they did not live here permanently. That was the day it poured on the way back and we got soaked. We followed the directions we were given and met Ying and Eric where they were working on their daughter's house. They're converting an old Tico house into liveable living quarters for Sierra and they're doing a great job. It will look great when it's all done. As they still had some work to do, they sent us on a little tour of Providencia. They told us how to get to a nice waterfall, lots of huge boulders and a woman, Ana, who rents out her cabina. We stopped there first and had a nice chat with Ana. She was lovely and, not surprisingly, welcomed us in the Tico way. She showed us her cabina and told us to come see her again and share a meal with her. We thanked her and headed back to find the waterfall. We found it: so, so beautiful. None of the pictures I take seem to capture the real beauty of this country, but I guess it's better than nothing. Sierra is an accomplished boulder climber. She's written a book called Costa Rica Bouldering. This is Sierra climbing on the right. Amazing!
