The selection process

Seidy, one of the board of directors of the Copey Learning Center, asked me if I would help her go through the applicants who have sent their resumes regarding the volunteer English teacher for toddlers and children classes. I spent 3 hours at Seidy's house reading through every email she received. There are many great candidates from England, the U.S., Canada and even New Zealand. I think we reviewed nearly 20 applicants. We wrote down the pros and cons of every candidate and have narrowed them down to 5 or 6. Next, I will be writing to each of them to continue the interview process. Although Seidy is more than capable of managing it all, she feels it would take too long with her limited English (hers words, not mine, I think her English skills are very good). I suppose it will take a lot less time for me to write letters and then respond. I'm happy to do it if it helps.

Also, while I was talking with Seidy, I mentioned that with helping with English and with school closing for two month for summer holidays next week, I'm not able to practice my Spanish quite as much. Seidy said she would be happy to teach me Spanish. I jumped at her offer and we've made plans to meet every Tuesday afternoon from 3 to 5 at the center to go through verb tenses and sentence structure. I think this will be the boost I need to get to the next level. I'm happy
