![]() Coming home from the Santa Maria tope yesterday, we drove up into our driveway and lo and behold, there were four cows on the OTHER side of our gate grazing on our grass! What? How in the world did they get in? That's why we have a fence and gate, to keep the roaming cows and horses out. After the 'shock', I opened the gate and Kevin drove in, then he got out of the SUV, picked up a long stick and started guiding them off our property. ![]() ![]() ![]() Kevin giving the thumbs up that he's got it all under control. Of course, they're off our property, but where they roam to next, who knows? If we knew who they belonged to, we'd let the owners know, but there are too many cow farmers in our neighbourhood, so we have no idea. ![]() After closing the gate, Kevin walked around to see if he could see whether our fence had any obvious gap... but he found none. Later, Kevin found cow manure way down near the hatchery... so either the cows had their own walk about while they were visiting, or maybe they came up from the river and climbed up the bank. Highly unlikely though. We're guessing that the cows were huddled on the outside of our gate and someone drove by and saw them, and thought they would be kind by letting them 'back in' without realizing they weren't doing us any favours. The good news is I have some nice fertilizer for the compost.
