It's Tuesday so I was teaching tonight. I had prearranged with Andrea and Beto on Sunday to have the volunteer group come to the adult English class tonight. We played two games: the first consisted of everyone standing in a large circle (there were 9 volunteers and 9 students) and the first person would state their name and their favourite colour. The next person would state their name and their favourite colour, then say the first person's name and favourite colour. The third person would have to remember the names and colours of the previous two, and so forth. It was a memory game for names and colours. The second game consisted of two groups standing side-by-side. The two at the front both had markers. When I called out a number from one to ten, the people at the front had to run to the board and spell the number. To make it fair, I had the students write the numbers in English (i.e., one) and the volunteers had to write them in Spanish (ie., uno). I could barely hear myself shout the number out, people were cheering on their teammates. Everyone was laughing hard. It was nice to do something more active and fun. The volunteers will be back next Tuesday. I have something else planned for that evening. A little more dialogue. Stay tuned.
