Transportation Tips

Picture
Renting a vehicle
If you intend to travel to different parts of the country, we recommend you rent a 4x4 vehicle with GPS! The rural parts of the country consist of rocky dirt roads (with little to no signage) and depending on what time of year you visit, you may have to cross a few small rivers. There are several car rental companies to choose from, and we are happy to recommend Vamos Rent-A-Car in San Jose, whose employees speak English and have always been friendly and reliable.
We will send you directions before you arrive.

Shuttle van

If your only destination is Hush Valley Lodges, we can arrange a taxi driver to pick
you up (he will have a sign with your name on it) and drop you off at the airport.
The cost is approximately $130 U.S. each way.

Taking the bus

If you're travelling by bus from San Jose, you'll need to catch the bus at the Musoc terminal (Av 22 between Calle Central and Calle 1) and buy a ticket to Santa Maria Dota (Los Santos). It costs approximately $4 U.S. (2,000 colones).
Taxi's are readily available in Santa Maria for transport to Hush Valley Lodges in Rio Blanco.

Distance from the airport

Please allow between two to four hours for travel from the Juan Santamaría International Airport (in San Jose) to Hush Valley Lodges.
